President Prabowo Subianto recently paid his respects at the funeral of the late Major General (Ret.) Eddie Marzuki Nalapraya, a well-known figure in the world of Indonesian pencak silat. The funeral took place at the Pencak Silat Training Center in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta. President Prabowo arrived at 3:45 p.m., donning a brown safari suit and a black peci cap. During the visit, he offered his condolences to Eddie’s family, saluted his casket, and shared a heartfelt moment with his loved ones. President Prabowo commended Eddie Nalapraya for his significant contributions to pencak silat as a national hero and former IPSI Chairman. He emphasized the vital role of this martial art in shaping national character and praised Eddie’s relentless efforts in promoting pencak silat both locally and globally. In recognition of his lifetime achievements, the late Eddie Nalapraya was posthumously honored with the Bintang Mahaputera award. President Prabowo concluded his remarks with prayers for Eddie Nalapraya’s eternal peace and bid a final farewell to the revered figure, acknowledging his profound impact on Indonesian pencak silat.
