President Prabowo Subianto stressed the importance of clean governance and honest leadership in uplifting Muslim-majority nations during the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) in Jakarta. He emphasized that Islamic nations need to actively participate in global affairs to create a just and prosperous world. Prabowo identified poverty, corruption, limited access to education, and resource mismanagement as critical issues that must be addressed internally for progress to be achieved. The theme of this year’s PUIC, “Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience,” was praised by Prabowo as a timely and essential focus. He emphasized that without robust and accountable governance, no nation can be competitive or resilient. Prabowo also highlighted the significant historical accomplishments of Islamic civilization, citing exemplary leaders such as Umar ibn al-Khattab and Mehmed the Conqueror, who prioritized the welfare of their people. Furthermore, he reiterated Indonesia’s unwavering support for Palestine and called on Muslim nations to take tangible actions to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, urging a shift from discussions to impactful initiatives. Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia will always stand in solidarity with Palestine in their pursuit of justice and freedom.
