The meeting took place on Wednesday (July 9) at 10:35 a.m. local time, with President Lula welcoming President Prabowo with full military honors. Dressed in a dark navy suit and traditional Indonesian peci, Prabowo saluted the Honor Guard of Brazil as he walked past them, showing his respect for the ceremonial welcome. The Indonesian flag was raised alongside Brazil’s national flag while the Indonesian national anthem Indonesia Raya was played, marking the beginning of the state visit.
After the welcoming ceremony, President Prabowo and President Lula entered the palace, exchanged warm greetings, and posed for official photographs before meeting with members of their respective delegations. President Prabowo was accompanied by senior Indonesian officials, including Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, and other key ministers. On the Brazilian side, important figures such as Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and Minister of Agriculture Carlos Henrique Baqueta Fávaro were present.
The highlight of the visit was a ceremonial performance by the Brazilian military band and mounted cavalry, who proudly flew the Indonesian flag from the palace balcony as a symbol of the growing friendship between Indonesia and Brazil. The visit emphasized the strong relationship between the two G20 and BRICS member states, showcasing the importance of diplomatic ties and mutual respect between the two nations.
