President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has shown his support for Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s initiative to bring hundreds of Brazilian entrepreneurs to Indonesia. This announcement was made after a bilateral meeting between Prabowo and Lula at Palácio do Planalto in Brasília on July 9. Prabowo expressed his excitement and highlighted the potential for increased cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the areas of trade and investment.
During the meeting, Prabowo emphasized the common interests shared by Indonesia and Brazil, as well as the significant potential for economic collaboration. He acknowledged the similarities between the two countries, such as their large populations, abundant natural resources, and biodiversity. Prabowo also commended Brazil’s advancements in agriculture and bioenergy, expressing Indonesia’s interest in learning from Brazil’s experiences in these fields.
In addition, Prabowo appreciated President Lula’s support for Indonesia’s plan to send more technical teams to study Brazil’s innovations and agricultural technologies. The two leaders discussed the importance of turning cooperation agreements into tangible actions that benefit both countries.
Aside from his visit to Brasília, Prabowo traveled to Brazil to take part in the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro. President Lula is expected to visit Indonesia in October, and Prabowo has already extended an invitation for a grand celebration in Jakarta to mark Lula’s 80th birthday. This exchange of visits and gestures of goodwill reflect the commitment of both leaders to strengthen the relationship between Indonesia and Brazil.
