National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is taking proactive steps to boost local employment by hiring workers for the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) from individuals living in extreme poverty. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to BGN, disclosed that a minimum of 30% of the workforce in each SPPG will be chosen from disadvantaged households in line with the President’s directive to ensure the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program contributes to job creation. Currently, there are 2,378 SPPG units established in collaboration with 6,076 local economic institutions, with 93,572 community members volunteering in the program. The MBG Program has reached over 7.4 million individuals nationwide, including students from various educational levels, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers. To expand the program’s reach, BGN plans to introduce an additional 2,401 SPPG units within the next 10 days, aiming to serve around 15 million beneficiaries. This initiative highlights a significant effort to promote job opportunities and address nutritional needs in underserved communities.
