Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development (Wamendukbangga), highlighted the importance of parents staying informed about their children’s interests and promoting physical activities to prevent game and gadget addiction. During the Double Check discussion on “The Role of Family Development in Welcoming a Golden Indonesia 2045,” organized by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) and Gempita in Jakarta, Isyana emphasized the need for parents to continuously upgrade themselves, especially in understanding current online applications as children tend to learn faster than their parents. She explained that children often seek instant gratification, which can lead to addiction through social media scrolling and online gaming. Isyana suggested that exposure to sunlight and outdoor activities, along with engaging in sports, can provide a healthier source of dopamine. Veronica Tan, Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, also mentioned the Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI) program, which aims to create safe and inclusive spaces for women, children, and communities to empower themselves, learn, play, and nurture creativity. Through RBI, children are encouraged to participate in traditional and creative games, sports, and activities to steer clear from gadget addiction.
