European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced a new visa policy to facilitate entry for Indonesian citizens into the European Union. This new policy allows Indonesians on their second visit to the EU to apply for a multi-entry Schengen visa. The announcement was made during a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Berlaymont Building in Brussels. Von der Leyen stressed that the visa policy aims to strengthen long-term ties between Indonesia and the EU, particularly in areas such as education, investment, and social exchange. This initiative is part of the people-to-people connections pillar in the EU-Indonesia strategic partnership, focusing on building bridges and fostering closer relationships between the two regions. President Prabowo echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of trust and shared values in enhancing EU-Indonesia ties. He expressed optimism for the finalization and signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in Brussels, signaling a new chapter in bilateral relations with increased openness and cooperation.
