National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has decided to halt the operations of Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) temporarily after the discovery of substandard food within the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. The suspension was declared by Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, who emphasized the importance of conducting a thorough investigation and laboratory testing of the MBG food samples. Independent institutions, along with local health and education departments, have been engaged to unravel the cause of the incident and monitor the health status of affected students.
Apologies were extended on behalf of BGN to the students, parents, schools, and all parties impacted by the revelation of unfit food in the MBG Program. The agency’s commitment to maintaining zero negligence in providing safe and healthy MBG meals to beneficiaries was reiterated. Collaboration with local government authorities is actively pursued to ensure a prompt and efficient response to the situation.
Redy highlighted the ongoing corrective measures, which include stricter partner screening, enhanced hygiene standards, supply chain improvements, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on expert recommendations.
