Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force successfully executed a humanitarian aid mission to the Gaza Strip, Palestine, on August 17, 2025, coinciding with Indonesia’s 80th independence anniversary. This mission was a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Defense, Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Alms Agency (Baznas). Two Indonesian Air Force C-130J Super Hercules aircraft took off from King Abdullah II Air Base in Amman, Jordan, at 10:37 a.m. local time (2:37 p.m. Jakarta time) and conducted an airdrop of aid supplies over Gaza before returning safely to the forward operating base at 12:25 p.m. local time (4:25 p.m. Jakarta time).
Colonel Pilot Puguh Yulianto, Commander of the Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force, stated that the mission proceeded smoothly without major obstacles. The aid packages consisted of essential supplies for Gaza residents, including staple foods, ready-to-eat meals, medical equipment, blankets, and items specifically for children. This mission was carried out under the direct instructions of President Prabowo Subianto, highlighting Indonesia’s steadfast commitment to international humanitarian solidarity.
The success of this mission on the nation’s independence anniversary was celebrated as a moment of national pride, showcasing Indonesia’s active role on the global stage and its contributions to global peace. Yulianto expressed that this achievement marked a historic milestone and served as a special gift for Indonesia’s Independence Day.
