Jakarta – The President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term, Prabowo Subianto, stated that he is currently focused on preparing for the upcoming presidential and vice-presidential inauguration on October 20, 2024.
His preparations include studying the issues faced by the nation and holding discussions with all stakeholders to formulate strategic steps to build Indonesia.
This approach is taken to ensure that he can start working immediately after the inauguration, without wasting any time.
“We study the problems, we gather experts, we discuss with all elements so that by October 20, with the transfer of mandate, there will be no vacuum, no wasted time,” Prabowo said during his speech at the halal bihalal event of the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) at the PBNU office in Jakarta, on Sunday afternoon (28/4).
Prabowo acknowledged that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has been very helpful and attentive during this preparation process. He described their relationship as having grown closer. For example, Jokowi used to call Prabowo ‘Menhan’ (Minister of Defense), but now it has become more familiar as ‘Mas Bowo’.
“I must convey here, how much Pak Joko Widodo has prepared me, my brothers and sisters. He is a person, I may say, very meticulous. He is very meticulous,” said Prabowo.
“Even now, he pays attention to me and I feel truly prepared. Before, I was still called ‘Menhan’, now it has become closer, (called) ‘Mas Bowo’,” he continued.
Prabowo added, one form of preparation and attention from Jokowi was when he was instructed to make official visits to several countries.
In early April 2024, Prabowo visited China and Japan. After that, Prabowo also plans to visit the Middle East, as directed by President Jokowi.
